People in mental health crisis can now access help by text

A new text line which enables people experiencing a mental health crisis to access support launched this week. Berkshire Healthcare’s Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) will be reachable through a 24/7 text line which is open to people of all ages living in Berkshire.
CRHTT provide intensive support to people in crisis within their own homes to prevent hospital admission. The new text line is part of a national improvement programme to improve access to mental health care.
Head of Mental Health Urgent Care, Kenny Byrne said “The new text line allows easier access to crisis support for people who are unable to call us for any reason. Once they have made first contact through text, our objective is to identify their needs as quickly as possible to allow us to provide the support they may require”
The new text line number is 07520 667 111. This is a standard network rate message.
