Community Equipment Services

Your safety and wellbeing remain our top priority.

You may have seen recent news reports about our community equipment provider, NRS Healthcare, entering liquidation. We understand this may cause concern, especially for those who rely on essential equipment to live independently at home. We want to reassure you that we have robust plans in place to ensure continuity of service.

What’s happening?

NRS Healthcare, which has provided equipment such as hospital beds, hoists, grab rails and other mobility aids across Berkshire, is ceasing operations from Friday 1 August 2025.

What does this mean for you?

From 1 August, Millbrook Healthcare will take over as the new provider of community equipment. We’ve been working hard to ensure that patients continue to receive the equipment they need during the transition, with minimal disruption.

We are working closely with West Berkshire Council, the six Berkshire local authorities, and NHS partners to manage this change safely and smoothly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I still receive the equipment I need?

We have contingency plans in place to ensure that urgent needs are met, including out-of-hours support for essential items like mattresses and nebulisers. During the transition period, there may be a delay to non-urgent items. Your clinician will discuss this with you and look at what options are available to support you in the meantime.

What happens to equipment I already have?

You can continue using your current equipment. If it needs servicing or replacement, Millbrook Healthcare will handle this going forward. Please contact: 0118 228 8701

My family member is in hospital - will this affect their discharge?

Through our new supplier, we'll continue to provide equipment to support those being discharged from hospital. There may be a short delay during the transition period, but we're working hard to keep this to an absolute minimum.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to your clinician.
