Changes to eligibility for Covid-19 vaccinations

This year, COVID-19 vaccine eligibility has changed.

This year, COVID-19 vaccine eligibility has changed.

Wednesday 8 October 2025

Following government advice, the vaccination programme for Covid-19 now focuses on individuals at high risk of serious illness. This means vaccines are being offered to:

  • adults aged 75+
  • residents in care homes for older adults
  • people who are immunosuppressed

Immunosuppressed can include people having certain chemotherapy or radiotherapy, transplant recipients, those with HIV, genetic conditions, blood cancers, or long-term immunosuppressive treatment.

If you do not fall into one of these groups, GPs and pharmacists won’t be able to offer you the vaccine this year. Speak to your local pharmacy, GP surgery or specialist if you're not sure if you're eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
