Children and Young People – Health Visiting Service
Source: https://www.berkshirehealthcare.nhs.uk/services/health-visiting-service
Our Health Visiting teams are led by Health Visitors – nurses and midwives with specialist public‑health qualifications – supported by community staff nurses, nursery nurses and administrators. We work with families who have children from birth until the child turns five as part of the Healthy Child Programme. The service provides:
- Developmental screening and reviews
- Immunisations
- Parenting advice and practical support
- Links with GPs, paediatricians, midwives, schools, community groups and charities
Who can use the service
All families living in Bracknell Forest, Wokingham, Reading and West Berkshire are eligible. No referral is needed – we find out about a pregnancy or a new baby through our partner services and then get in touch. Support is available from pregnancy until the child is five years old.
How to access
- ChatHealth – a confidential text‑messaging service you can use at any time.
- Well‑baby clinics – held in children’s centres, family hubs or community venues such as village halls. Schedules are published online.
- Appointment‑only clinics – you can book an appointment if you need more focused support.
- If you need help outside normal clinic hours, you can still contact us via ChatHealth.
