East Berkshire Specialist Wheelchair Service

If you’re unable to walk within your home because of a long-term health condition, we may be able to provide you with a wheelchair.

This page has details about how to get a referral, booking repairs, as well as how to use our One Consultation Virtual Appointment.

Appointments

We have now returned to normal service, and accepting referrals and arranging appointments. 

Referrals to us must be completed by a consultant, GP or registered healthcare professional

Visiting us

When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car or wait outside, and call our team.

If you’re unable to call, please come to the main door, press the bell and wait for someone to come to you.

We may not be able to provide you with a wheelchair immediately, but we will try to offer assistance in the meantime.

We can offer the right equipment for you if your mobility is affected by illnesses, such as:

  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Motor neurone disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Patients with spinal injuries
  • Amputations
  • Stroke

We offer both manual and powered wheelchairs, specialist children's buggies and other supportive seating for indoors and outdoors use.

We provide chairs and equipment to suit your individual needs and lifestyle. When you’re referred to us, we’ll look at things like your posture, measurements and any disabilities you have.

We provide mobility services for people across East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire. Most of our appointments take place at 3 Abell Gardens in Maidenhead, but we also provide home visits if you’re unable to travel to us.

If you’re living in the West Berkshire area, you will need to contact the wheelchair services provided by Royal Berkshire Hospital. Please contact them to find out more about support

Our chairs are maintained and repaired by Millbrook Healthcare. Please call them to arrange collections or repairs.

Their teams are available for contact and support from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. They have an out of hours emergency repair service between 7am and 8am and 5pm and 11pm.

At weekends and on bank holidays their emergency service operates between 7am and 11pm.

Unfortunately, we don’t accept self referrals if you’re new to our service.

Please don’t be late to your appointment as we may not be able to see you. If you need to cancel, please call us as soon as possible.

Our Mobility Service is open 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday. We’re open 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday.

Our clinic provides:

  • Free parking with two bays allocated for wheelchair users
  • Step free ground floor access
  • Wheelchair training ramp to help you practice moving up and down slopes
