Dental Service

If you’re unable to visit a general dentist because of a health condition, we can provide you with dental care.

All our Community Dental Clinics are open.

We’re prioritising appointments, which does mean we aren’t able to see as many patients each day.

We thank you for your continued patience during this time. If you have an urgent issue, please call the emergency numbers listed below.

Your appointment

To keep you, our staff and other patients safe, we’ve made changes to our appointments and will send details with your appointment.

  • Waiting rooms are not in use, so we ask that you wait outside or in your car until we call you in
  • You must wear a face covering when you come in, and follow guidance around social distancing
  • You may bring a parent or carer with you
  • We’ll ask you if you have any COVID-19 symptoms - if you have any, we will not be able to see you, but we will rebook your appointment

The British Dental Association (BDA) have put advice for all patients during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak on their website.

Once you’ve been referred to us, we’ll put you onto the appointment waiting list, and contact you when a space becomes available.

During your check-up, we’ll ask you a few questions about your medical health and dental history. If needed, we will take or send you for an x-ray.

We’ll then discuss any treatments you may need, and any costs involved.

You can see a list of typical dental costs on the NHS website, but please only use this as a guide.

The total cost you will pay will depend on your treatment.

If you receive any benefits that exempt you from paying dental charges, please bring some proof of this along to your appointment.

If you decide to go ahead with the treatment, we’ll arrange your next appointment.

If you're waiting for an appointment

We do receive many referrals, so it may take some time before we can see you.

We’ll contact you as soon as we can arrange an appointment with you.

If you have received a letter from us, you do not have to contact us about making an appointment.

If you have any problems in the meantime, we can offer emergency advice and if necessary, emergency treatment.

We also take referrals for children who have complex dental issues or a particular dental problem that can’t be treated by their normal dentist.

This can include needing several teeth out or having a severe infection that requires general anaesthetic in a hospital.

We can also help with children who might be uncooperative or nervous and require sedation to allow treatment.
