Overview

We employ eight different types of allied health professionals (AHPs).

Art therapists

Art therapists are trained mental health professionals. They provide a form of psychological therapy that involves making art.

Art therapy uses drawing, painting, or sculpting to help people express thoughts and feelings that are hard to put into words.

Dietitians

Dietitians are registered professionals who assess, diagnose, and treat problems linked to eating and drinking.

They help people of all ages by giving advice to help manage illnesses like diabetes, kidney disease, eating disorders, and allergies. Dietitians can also help people who struggle to manage their weight.

Dramatherapists

Dramatherapy is delivered by trained mental health professionals who use performance arts as a form of therapy.

They use role play, puppets, masks, storytelling, and other forms of drama to help people express difficult thoughts and feelings.

Occupational therapists (OTs)

OTs are registered professionals who help people of all ages find new ways to do daily activities. They support people who have a health condition, injury, or disability.

OTs can teach new ways to do things like getting dressed or cooking. They can also suggest tools or changes to a home or work space to make moving and doing things easier.

Paramedics

Our paramedics work in the Urgent Community Response (UCR) Service. They assess patients who need an emergency response to prevent a stay in hospital.

Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists are registered professionals who help people of all ages improve their ability to move.

They provide advice and exercise plans for patients of all ages to help them recover after an illness, injury, or operation. Sometimes, physiotherapy can be used to help manage symptoms, like breathing problems caused by a long-term condition.

Podiatrists

Podiatrists are registered professionals who provide assessments and treatment for foot and lower leg problems. They help people of all ages with a range of issues, such as skin and nail problems, injuries, and long-term pain.

Podiatrists also help people with health conditions like diabetes and poor circulation which can cause foot problems.

Speech and language therapists (SLTs)

SLTs are registered professionals who help people of all ages with communication or swallowing problems. They provide advice, exercises, and treatment plans for people who find it difficult to speak or who have trouble drinking, chewing, or swallowing safely.
