Other urgent support

If you or someone else needs urgent help, please call 111 for non-emergency medical advice, or 999 in a life-threatening emergency. Otherwise you can find useful contact information for organisations that provide support.

Non-NHS urgent support

Support in the community

Your local pharmacy offers quick, expert advice on minor illnesses, medicines, and healthy living. Pharmacists can help with prescriptions, over‑the‑counter treatments, and certain NHS services such as blood pressure checks, flu vaccinations, and stop smoking support, all without needing a GP appointment.

Your GP practice provides ongoing care for your health needs, from consultations and prescriptions to managing long‑term conditions. GPs can refer you to specialist services when needed, ensuring you receive the right support close to home.

Sexual health

We offer a free, confidential, and non-judgemental sexual health service for all ages. For those under 18, we run young person walk-in clinics, no appointment needed.

These provide access to STI testing, contraception, pregnancy testing, and friendly advice in a safe and supportive space.

Had unprotected sex in the last 5 days? Visit the NHS website for information about where to get emergency contraception.

You can also order home testing kits and book an appointment with our Sexual Health Service.

Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression

Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression is a free and confidential service offering effective treatment for common mental health problems such as low mood, stress or worry.

Most of our treatments are based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps people to improve their mental health and wellbeing by changing unhelpful patterns in how they think and behave.

Help is available in-person, at a Berkshire Healthcare clinic location, by ‘phone, video, or through an online course.
