We work together to understand and address racism in health and care
The Anti-Racism CommUNITY Forum brings together community organisations, community leaders, people with lived experience, staff and partners from across Berkshire.
The Forum meets online every two months for 90 minutes. People share their views, discuss inequalities and help shape priorities.
There is also a face-to-face event each year to review progress and agree what to focus on next.

Since 2023, the forum has provided a space for open discussion, shared learning, and action.
The Forum’s knowledge and experience have helped shape changes at Berkshire Healthcare, including:
resources about faith and belief
black heritage hair care guidance
skin tone bias tools for clinical staff
support for more culturally sensitive care
better ways to prevent and respond to racist incidents
service improvements shaped by community feedback
stronger links with community organisations
learning resources and community storytelling projects

We know that people from different ethnic backgrounds do not always have equal access to healthcare or the same experiences and outcomes. Berkshire Healthcare is working with communities and partners to address these inequalities and become an anti-racist organisation.
