We have retained our Level 3 Disability Confident Leader Status

We’re proud to announce that we have retained our Disability Confident Leader status, showing our commitment to supporting disabled colleagues and creating an inclusive workplace. The Disability Confident Scheme, a government initiative, encourages employers to improve how they attract, recruit, and retain disabled workers.

We were recognised as an employer that goes beyond compliance to actively promote inclusion. This status was independently validated by Diversity and Ability, who are a social enterprise led by disabled people to help organisations creative inclusive cultures.

They assessed our evidence, policies, recruitment practices, and anonymised workplace adjustments.

We promote good practice across our region, working with partners within BOB ICB (Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board) and Frimley ICS (Integrated Care System).

Our role goes beyond our own workforce as we support other employers to become more inclusive.

Some of our recent improvements include:

  • A 7.2% increase in disability declarations, showing staff confidence in self-identifying as disabled.
  • We've made our hiring processes accessible, offering equal opportunities to all candidates.
  • A reduction in non-disclosure rates from 11% to 7.5%, enhancing our disability data tracking.
  • Our commitment to providing necessary accommodations has created a supportive environment for disabled colleagues.
  • We have a variety of dedicated staff support networks, such as the Purple Network that includes staff with disabilities, physical or mental health issues, have caring responsibilities or are neurodivergent, that encourages a sense of community and belonging.

We’re committed to refining our recruitment tracking, enhancing leadership disability training, and ensuring accessibility across all digital platforms.

By continuing this work, we will create an even more inclusive future for our staff, patients, and community.
