For the second year in a row, Berkshire Healthcare has achieved the highest staff engagement score in its comparison group. This reflects the care, professionalism and commitment our staff show to our patients and each other.
More than 3,300 of our staff shared their views - the highest number of responses we’ve ever received – giving us the clearest picture yet of what it feels like to work at the Trust. This feedback helps us shape the way we lead and improve our organisation.
About the NHS National Staff Survey
The annual NHS National Staff Survey aims to gain insight to improve the experience of all NHS employees. The survey is one of the biggest workforce surveys in the world and is aligned with the nine themes of NHS People Promise, plus staff engagement and morale.
What is working well
Some of the questions where we scored highest speak for themselves. Many of our staff told us:
- ‘I would recommend my organisation as a place to work.’
- ‘I feel valued by my team’
- ‘Care of patients is organisation's top priority’
- ‘If friends or relatives needed treatment, I would be happy with the standard of care provided by my organisation’
Our results reflect the dedication of managers and colleagues who work hard every day to create a positive, supportive culture. Compared with other trusts, we were the top scoring organisation in 39 survey questions. That’s an exceptional achievement and something we are very proud of.
What happens next
Our teams will be looking at their results and agreeing actions locally, alongside our wider work to tackle bullying and harassment, improve equality, and support health and wellbeing. Although our results were very positive overall, the staff survey also gives us an insight into where improvements are needed, and we will keep pushing to do better.
