Local MP Clive Jones recently visited Wokingham Hospital to meet staff and learn more about the vital services it provides to the community.
Welcomed by Director of Nursing and Therapies Debbie Fulton, he was given a tour of key departments and introduced to teams supporting patients across Wokingham and the surrounding areas.
The MP spent time at the Phoenix Service for children and young people, where he heard about the tailored support offered to younger patients and their families. He also visited The Barkham Clinic, home to the hospital’s Memory Service and Older Adults Mental Health (OPMH) services, where he learned more about the specialist care available to older adults.
Another key stop on the tour was Ascot Ward, which provides rehabilitation, nursing care, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy for adult patients, helping individuals regain independence and recover before returning home.
Throughout the visit, Clive met with staff from across the hospital, giving him the opportunity to hear directly about their experiences. These conversations offered valuable insight into the day-to-day care and services provided on site, discussing both the challenges and the rewards of their roles, and learning more about the positive impact their work has on patient outcomes.
The visit underlined the hospital’s importance as a hub for accessible, high-quality care close to home for residents across the area.
