What is the Equity Partnership Group?

The EPG has been created to provide independent scrutiny and oversight of our commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion. The group will hold leaders to account, challenge assumptions, and make sure that the voices of underserved communities are reflected in our strategies and actions.

Working alongside senior leaders, Equity Partners will help ensure our approach is robust, evidence-based, and focused on outcomes – supporting our vision of being both a great place to get care and a great place to give care.

What does the role involve?

As an Equity Partner, you will:

  • Review data, plans, and performance to assess their impact on equity
  • Challenge gaps and barriers to ensure fair representation in decisions
  • Draw on lived experience and expertise to strengthen inclusion strategies
  • Contribute to open and honest discussions about tackling inequity
  • Bring an intersectional perspective, recognising how different aspects of identity shape experiences
  • Partners will specialise in one of four areas ranging from LGBTQ+, neurodivergence, carers and race, while working together to address inequity across all themes.

The commitment is around four to six meetings per year, plus preparation time.

What’s in it for you?

By becoming an Equity Partner, you will:

  • Shape real change by influencing how healthcare is delivered across Berkshire
  • Work directly with senior NHS leaders, holding systems to account
  • Use your lived experience for impact, ensuring decisions reflect community realities
  • Develop skills and networks with peers and leaders passionate about inclusion
  • Be recognised and supported, with optional payment (£90 per session), expense reimbursement, and wellbeing support
  • Who we are looking for

We want people with lived experience and expertise in tackling systemic inequity, whether through public health, community leadership, workforce equity, academia, or co-production. You should feel confident analysing information through an equity lens and be willing to engage in sensitive, constructive discussions.

How to apply

If you’re passionate about equity and want to help shape healthcare for everyone, we’d love to hear from you.
