During last week's heatwave, Berkshire Healthcare Charity teamed up with Tonibell Ice Cream to bring a welcome cooling treat to staff, patients, and visitors across our in-patient sites.
"With temperatures soaring, we wanted to do something simple that would benefit not only our colleagues, but also the patients and visitors spending time on our wards," said Jo Ramsay, Charity Manager.
Ice cream vans visited West Berkshire Community Hospital, Upton Hospital, Prospect Park Hospital, St Mark's Hospital, and Wokingham Hospital, giving the opportunity to enjoy a free ice cream and take a moment to cool down.
The gesture was warmly received, with smiles, queues and plenty of excitement at every stop.
“I've never seen the whole department so excited! It's really cheered our day and been a much-appreciated spirit boost on a wilting afternoon.”
A huge thank you to Tonibell Ice Cream for helping make the visits possible, and to all our colleagues who continued to provide outstanding care throughout the challenging conditions. We're delighted that this small gesture brought a little joy to staff, patients and visitors alike.
