Overview
We want everyone to feel confident and supported when visiting our services. That’s why we’ve partnered with AccessAble, the UK’s leading provider of detailed accessibility information, to create comprehensive access guides for more than 45 of our hospitals, clinics and community sites.
These guides are now available here on our website.
What you can find
Each of our location and clinic pages includes a summary of key accessibility information and a link to a full, detailed Access Guide on the AccessAble website.
Every guide includes clear, practical information such as:
- Photographs of entrances and inside spaces
- Parking and drop-off details
- Step-free access and lift information
- Hearing loops and assistive listening systems
- Accessible toilets (including Changing Places facilities where available)
- Lighting, signage and quieter areas
Rather than using general descriptions like “fully accessible”, the guides provide factual details to help you understand exactly what to expect before you arrive.
You can also download the guides as a PDF to print or share with family members, carers or support workers.
Why this is important
We know that uncertainty about a building or environment can increase anxiety and make it harder to attend appointments.
By providing clear accessibility information in advance, we aim to:
- Help you plan your visit with confidence
- Reduce practical barriers to care
- Support equal access to our services
- Improve experiences for disabled people, carers and anyone with additional access needs
This is one of the ways we are working to make our services more inclusive and easier to navigate for everyone in our communities.
What’s next?
As we continue to develop our website, we will be integrating more accessibility information directly into our location pages, so you can access everything you need more quickly.
If you have feedback about the accessibility of our services or our website, or if you need this information in a different format, please get in touch with us at: MarComms@berkshire.nhs.uk
Your feedback helps us improve and ensures our services meet the needs of the communities we serve.
