Advice and resources : Makaton taster webinars

We are pleased to invite you to attend an online Makaton taster session. These sessions are being provided free of charge to parents who have been recommended Makaton by their child’s speech and language therapist.

Makaton taster sessions are an excellent introduction to Makaton signs and symbols. The sessions include:

  • An introduction to Makaton
  • Learn around 30 Makaton signs and symbols for everyday use
  • Ideas of how to use signs with your child

After the session you'll receive a copy of all the signs and symbols you've been taught, along with a certificate of attendance.

The session is not designed to be run with your children present or to be used as a therapy session. Therefore, we recommend where possible that you select a time when your child is at school, nursery, or possibly taking a nap so that you can focus your attention on the training. However, we fully recognise that this is not always possible and you may need to have your child with you for the training session. We do not want this to stop you from joining a session, so if you have concerns about joining a session with your child present, please do get in touch and we can discuss it with you.
