Annabel's apprenticeship journey

Annabel started as a business administration apprentice within the inpatients admin team in July 2016. She began looking for an apprenticeship during the last year of her A-Levels. She said: 'I realised university wasn't the only way to progress and the benefits of an apprenticeship became more appealing. I then saw Berkshire Healthcare advertising for a business administration apprentice at Prospect Park Hospital.'

'When I started everyone was so helpful and friendly and instantly made me feel comfortable. My key aim was to progress and learn as much as I could and this has always been fully supported. I was given opportunities to not only learn about the section I worked in but to learn about the different departments within the hospital.  I was offered a variety of training sessions which have increased my confidence and aided me while working. Not only this, I was involved in tons of different projects and tasks where I was exposed to new people and opportunities which I extremely enjoyed.'

'At first I was unsure of where I wanted to go or end up, however I have since completed my apprenticeship and was successful in securing a permanent position within the trust. I was able to use my skills learnt throughout my apprenticeship to provide support to both the current and new members of staff within my team. Not only this, but I have been given the opportunity to continue my personal development where I am completing both Level 3 IT and Level 3 Business Administration Management. Additionally, I am supporting my qualification by taking on the responsibility of mentoring our new apprentice. My whole experience working in the trust has been extremely positive and I have no doubt it will continue that way.'
