Flexible and hybrid ways of working have brought plenty of benefits, but they've also reduced some of the everyday moments that help colleagues get to know one another, build trust and feel part of a team. Research shows that connection and belonging remain important factors in workplace wellbeing and effective teamwork. Team building in 2026 becomes even more important than it was before. A team of Berkshire Healthcare staff demonstrated how a connected team works last year by completing the Dorney Lake Triathlon. From training, fundraising and taking on a challenge together, colleagues had the opportunity to build relationships, support one another and strengthen team spirit * all while raising money to enhance care across Berkshire Healthcare. Four teams of three from East Berks Children’s Mental Health Service Supervised Community Treatment took on their local Triathlon and what stood out most wasn’t just the challenge itself, but the connection it created. With teams taking part as a relay, as well as some individuals going solo, it became a shared experience that brought people together, strengthened relationships, and built a real sense of team spirit.
