Mobility services for children

We help you to find the right equipment for your child’s individual needs and help you and/or your child's carer to manage the specialist equipment provided.

We work with children in East Berkshire to provide wheelchairs for those who are unable to walk because of long term illness or disability.

These conditions could include Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy, spinal injuries, amputations and those who have had a Stroke.

We work jointly with education services and social care to provide you with our service.

Eligibility for our service depends on your child’s needs.

We generally support toddlers to adult who need mobility support within their home, although all our wheelchairs can be used outside as well.

Initially your child should be referred to us through a healthcare professional, however, once they are known to us you can self-refer them.

You can self-refer your child using the telephone number below.

We will acknowledge your referral and if your child is not eligible we will let you know within a few days of the referral being received.

If your child is eligible, we will telephone you to make an appointment and also remind you by text message of this appointment.

Your child will be expected to wait a minimum of 12 weeks for an appointment if they are a new patient without a wheelchair – although we always aim to see patients sooner.

Accessibility:
Our clinic area has been designed specifically for disabled patients, including a toilet and hoisting facilities.
