Individual Placement and Support (IPS)
If you feel that your mental health condition is making it difficult for you to find work and career opportunities, our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service can support you.
We know that having a job can play a big part in building your self confidence and independence, and that living with a mental health condition shouldn’t stop you from doing the things you want to do.
If you’re being supported by our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) services, we can help you to find work opportunities which meet your skills, preferences and goals.
Rather than a typical ‘train then place’ approach, which means you’re trained before finding the job you want, we aim to help you find meaningful employment.
We do this by helping you find positions, and then supporting you through further training and development while you’re at work.
Our IPS service can support you in different ways, such as:
- Helping you find a paid job as close to your work preferences as possible
- Working closely with our health teams, to make sure we provide the right ongoing advice for your conditions
- Working together with your employer to make sure you’re getting on well in your job
- Offering benefits counselling if needed
You can find out more about our service by contacting your care professional, or if you’re supported by our CMHT or EIP service you can self-refer by emailing us.
All of our patient appointments happen in the community, away from the hospital.
However our employment specialists are also based at different sites across Berkshire.
Whether you're being supported by our Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) or Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) services, you can contact our teams across Berkshire to arrange a referral.
