Neuro Rehabilitation

Neuro Rehabilitation comprises of the Community Based Neuro Rehab Team (CBNRT) in the West of Berkshire and 8 dedicated Neuro Rehab Beds at West Berkshire Community Hospital.

CBNRT is a service delivered in the Community at patients place of residence.  The team is made up of Neuro Specialists from Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology and Therapy Assistants.

The aim of the team is to assess rehabilitation potential/goals and deliver these in the community.  The team work together to support people to manage their neurological condition and their goals aiming towards greater independence in everyday life.

The team ae highly skilled in enabling and empowering patients and their carers to reach their full potential using a client centered, holistic and goal based approach.

It comprises:

• Occupational Therapists
• Physiotherapists
• Psychologists
• Speech and Language Therapist
• Therapy Assistants

In-patient Neuro Rehab Beds

There are inpatient Neuro-rehabilitation beds at West Berkshire Community Hospital, for patients needing further in-patient rehab on discharge from an Acute setting.

There is a time limited (up to 6 weeks) specialist neuro-rehabilitation for individuals with realistic, achievable goals that may improve or maintain their ability to perform activities of daily living that are purposeful, functional and meaningful to that individual. It empowers and enables the individual and their carer to manage their own condition.  The disciplines comprise of specialists in Neurology of Consultant, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech and Language therapy and Therapy Assistants.
