Community Mental Health Team

Type: community team; community service

Location: Maidenhead.

Description: The CMHT provides assessment, care and treatment for people  who have one or more types of severe mental illness. We are a multidisciplinary team of community psychiatric nurses, social workers, support workers, psychiatrists and occupational therapists.The CMHT is made up of several teams such as the Duty and Assessment Team, Home Treatment Team, Rehabilitation and Recovery Team, Assertive Outreach Team, Early Intervention Team, Psychology Service, Carers Support Worker, Community Development Worker and the Primary Care Liaison Service.

Common conditions treated: services are for people with severe and / or enduring conditions: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. OCD; Panic; Personality Disorders; Serious & disabling obsessions or Phobias;  Post traumatic Stress Disorder; Psychotic illness (such as schizophrenia) Serious Self harm; Sexual mental health conditions; Substance Misuse; Extreme and disabling anxiety, Bipolar Disorder. (manic depression)  Severe clinical depression

You can access our services through:  A GP referral to the Duty and Assessment team. Referrals should preferably be made in writing, except in emergencies. Referrals will be acknowledged and contact made within two weeks. Emergency referrals can be made direct to the Duty Officer who is available during normal office hours.

The Team cannot accept referrals from people with problems primarily related to marital issues, learning difficulties, dementia, drug or alcohol abuse. Similarly, referrals are not normally accepted for people under 17 years of age or over 75 years of age.

Community Mental Health Team for Older People

Age group served: older people
Service cover: Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead
Location: Maidenhead

Description: multidisciplinary community team providing assesment and treatment for older people from 75 years old and any age physically, biologically based illness

Common conditions treated: services are for people with severe and/or enduring conditions; anxiety if severe; bipolar disorder (manic depression); childhood autism spectrum disorder; depression if severe; eating disorders; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); panic; personality disorders; phobias; post traumatic stress disorder with referral to specialist service where required; schizophrenia; serious self harm; sexual mental health conditions.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

CAMHS stands for 'Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services'. Berkshire CAMHS aims to promote good mental health, and to assess and treat mental health problems in children and young people up to the age of 18 years. We work in six local clinics as well as the Berkshire Adolescent Unit in Wokingham and other community settings.
