Early Intervention in Psychosis Service

Type: community outreach; community service
Age group served: 16 - 35 years old

Location: Wokingham

Description: our Early Intervention Psychosis (EIP) team works within the local community mental health teams in Berkshire to provide a specialist service for people aged 16 > 35 experiencing their first episode of psychosis.

Our team has access to a variety of different disciplines and includes nurses, doctors, social workers, psychologists and family workers.

Early Intervention (EI) in severe mental illness has been found to prevent individuals becoming long-term psychiatric patients and greatly improves the likelihood of stable recovery with reduced incidence of relapse.

Our aim is to promote recovery for a happy and healthy future for people who use our service.

We also link to access services provided by Berkshire Adolecent Unit in Wokingham. Out of hours EIP patients have access to 24/7 crisis /Home Treatment Team.

IAPT Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies Service

Type: commissioned by West of Berkshire Primary Care Trust Community Service
Age group served: adults
Service cover: West Berkshire
Location: Our main office is in Shinfield, near Reading but we have clinical space across the West of Berkshire

Description: Offers help for common mental health problems - mild to moderate and moderate to severe. After assessment the most appropriate way forward will be decided, which may include, structured individual work, well-being courses, telephone follow-up, computerised cognitive behavioural therapy, guided self help, short term counselling, links to employment and advice about other services that could help.

Common conditions treated: anxiety, depression, stress and phobias
